Here comes the sun...and some personality.

The weather is warming up, the sun is coming out, and so is Landon's personality. He is beginning to crack a few smiles, talk to himself and last night he broke his all time sleeping record of 7 hours with an unbelievable 8.5 hours. We have been waiting for this day for 8 weeks. Only problem when he sleeps so long the mama wakes up to ensure he is still breathing.

Grandma DeVoe sent us some sunglasses the other week that Landon sports with great confidence.

To quote Uncle Chas:
Chas. Phillips
Is that a chest pound? What a badass. At this rate of learning curve, he's going to be 'blowin up' fist pounds by the time he's six months. Good looking nephew i have--Nice work Rob and Melissa.

Landon also has a new hat with a car on it. Who knew he would be such a muscle man.

Hey Ladies!

Landon is quite the ladies man. He had a house full of beautiful women to hold and rock him to sleep. Melissa's college roommates, Laura and Sheena, flew in for a long weekend. Landon enjoyed walks, movies, and a trip to the ski hill. Rob also played Mr. Mom while the girls enjoyed a night out to see the Broadway show Legally Blond, SUPER cute!

6-11 and I am not talking feet and inches

Took the little Landon in to the doctors office on Friday (flying solo, while Melissa was at a haircut), and had his weight checked. He is up to 6 lbs 11 oz, that is a 17 ounce increase in 1 month, good but not great. So we are going to hit him with some McDonalds, that's right a little formula mixed in his bottle feedings... The last couple feedings via bottle have gone well, he loves how easy it is for him, but he takes down the whole bottle in seconds flat, so we need to pace his intake better to prevent the big spit-up that usually follows a long drink.
The Erickson's arrived this weekend, as part of Thomas' spring break. The last grand-parents to lay hands on the boy. They were so excited to see him and hold him and love him, and not to mention are a HUGE help around the house. Karen has made us some wonderful dinners, and I am convinced the dishes have been doing themselves, Thanks Karen!
We took them on an adventure to see our cabin, all 6 of us and the 2 dogs loaded in the land cruiser, with our snow gear and headed for the mountain. We had heard that the road was relatively clear due to the logging that has been happening up there this winter. As we arrived and turned up Elk drive (the steep part) we realized "clear" is a relative term, so I put all 270 horses to work in the Land Cruiser and ran up the hill, slipping and sliding but arrived at our driveway, where we could go no further.
We walked in in thigh deep snow, John was awesome and carried Landon, stepping steadily walking hands free - as I rushed in with a sled to get a fire started. We had the place warm and toasty in about 30 minutes (around the fire at least) and ate some lunch.

We met a contractor up there as well to quote the drywall and plumbing work, nice guy to tromp through the snow to look at the cabin.

What a lot of fun!

PTBS

Thats right - Post Traumatic Bath Syndrome. He's got it. Noo not really, but bathing our slippery little guy has gotten pretty fun. I got to wash him up the other night, although I am secretly going to brainwash him into believing that baths are not a necessary part of regualr life and that it will put hair on his chest.

But after this bath, his hair looks pretty cute, his feet are pretty cute, well all in all he is pretty cute.

Melissa spends each and every day with him and sometimes when I come home and look at the camera I discover new photos....hmm thats weird! So I have posted some of Landon and my beautiful Melissa!

Last night during one of the Jazz's sweet sweet victories I was able to perch Landon next to me to watch the game. Can't wait until he is dunking the basketball!

And finally a photos that makes me realize just how tiny his feet are, I can hold his two feet in their entirety in one hand, and he loves it!

Babywise.......Mama Cries

With the thought of returning to work in the back of my mind and the sleepless nights we decided to start getting on a schedule. We are following the Babywise method which we started a few days ago. The theory is that baby needs consistency and so we eat, play, and nap every 3 hours or so. Sounds nice, I have yet to make it through a day without a few tears - from me. Landon is a tough cookie. The first day he cried for an hour before letting himself fall asleep - killed us, me. But he slept at night with no crying at all and has for several nights which has been a big improvement for us.
Naptime during the day is always a surprise never knowing what we are going to get. Some naps he goes right to sleep and others he gives his lungs a good rally. (This makes me cry so I try and do dishes or something productive to keep my mind focused on something else.) And then, he always falls asleep.

Peaceful sleeping and goofy hair.

We are giving Babywise a try for 5 days to see if we can see it working - we are already seeing some improvements and benefits. The schedule is nice because it is predictable and allows us time to do things around the house and Landon is getting quality sleep - when he finally falls asleep. We carried Landon around for 4 weeks straight whether asleep or awake never putting him down, so it's an adjustment.
Waking up and learning to roll around. (Somehow Landon lost his pants during one nap, not sure how he Houdini'd out of those :) Enjoy.

Swinging Arms and Swinging Swings

Landon has started to become much more active. He just discovered that he has toys hanging from his chair and learned that he could make them move if he touched them. This was entertaining for about 10 minutes - enough time to make a quick lunch.

A swing! We finally broke down and purchased a swing, we were trying to avoid filling up our house with gear unless necessary....the swing became necessary. The nurses at the hospital said Landon LOVED the swing when he was born so we thought we would give it a try. The first day he swung for an hour allowing the mama to complete a shower and get dressed all in one. It was somewhat monumental.
